History:

The Church Outreach department at Focus on the Family was formed in June 2006, and it exists to serve pastors and lay leaders (called Family Champions) as they minister to the families in their church and community.

For the first 15 months, we spent time listening to pastors and their leaders. Understanding that we are a small part of the Body of Christ, we learned how best we could serve churches in helping families thrive.

In September 2007, we hosted our first Family Champion Training. Since that launch, more than 50 churches and over 100 Family Champions have been trained in the Family Ministry Process.

In June of 2008, we realized that it would be very important to take our Family Champion Trainings into the communities across the United States. This will enable a large scale transformation of families in the church where the home is at the center of spiritual growth.

To see a movement of local churches around the world equipping its leaders and members in building God-honoring families, and encouraging them to make an impact in their community and culture.

Our Mission:

To serve the needs of the local church by training up leaders who will help strengthen marriages and equip parents to nurture faith in the home.

We will accomplish this through the following steps:

Listen First

As in any relationship, communication is key. By listening, we come to fully understand your church's needs. Only then can we truly serve your church by gaining insight of your leaders and church members in order for them to make an impact within their community.

Equip Leaders and Church Families

Building families and community takes time and effort. Don't undertake this challenge alone. Our partnership will provide guidance, support, strength and encouragement for your church leaders and the families in its care. We do this by:

• Assessing the health and needs of families within your church
• Training lay leaders
• Supporting churches through a six-week church-wide campaign
• Helping families create intentional spiritual plans
• Long-term support through relationship, resources and partnership
